A tattoo artist in Sydney, Australia has become the latest in a string of artists to create tattoo-style portraits of famous celebrities, with the star in the centre of the picture.
The star tattoo is being sold by Australian tattoo artist Scott Williams, who created the tattoo in his home studio on the northern NSW city’s outskirts.
“I have a few people in the tattoo community that have been doing the work, but this is the first time I’ve done one of my own,” Mr Williams said.
“The star tattoos are a lot more than just a tattoo, and I thought it was a nice idea to have something that has some personality in it.”
The star is part of Mr Williams’ constellation tattoo collection.
He said he had originally planned on creating a more abstract tattoo with a single line of letters and dots but the star stuck.
“People tend to like to think that they’re looking at a painting, but when you look at it, you can’t really tell the difference,” he said.
The tattoo is on a woman’s forearm and is being offered for $75.
It comes in two sizes, for men and women.
The artist said he wanted the star tattoo to represent an aspect of his life, such as an old partner or a family member.
“If you go and have a conversation with someone about a tattoo or a painting and they say ‘I’ve got a very similar tattoo, but I’m not sure where it comes from’ then you know what it is,” Mr Mayes said.
Mr Williams said he made the star as a tribute to his girlfriend, who died a year ago.
“It’s my way of saying goodbye to her, my mother, my best friend, my girlfriend,” he told ABC News.
